Reiki is a spiritual healing art with its roots in Japanese origin. The word Reiki comes from the Japanese word (Rei) which means “Universal Life” and (Ki) which means “Energy”. Reiki is not affiliated with any particular religion or religious practice. It is not massage nor is it based on belief or suggestion. It is a subtle and effective form of energy work using spiritually guided life force energy. It’s a complementary or alternative health approach. Reiki does not directly cure diseases or illnesses. Instead, it’s used as a way to manage symptoms and improve general well-being.

During a Reiki session, the practitioner places their hands either directly on you or just above you to bring about healing by stimulating your body’s natural healing abilities.

Relieves pain, anxiety, fatigue, depression.
Calms and pacifies.
Enhances quality of life
Boosts mood
May improve some symptoms and conditions.

Reiki may also be used to treat:

  • headache
  • tension
  • insomnia
  • nausea

Second level and above, Reiki practitioners and masters, can send Reiki at a distance. You may request Reiki at a distance for yourself to ameliorate any conditions, or for someone you know who you feel will benefit from it, by providing their name and location at the time being. Please note that patients in surgery should only receive Reiki after the procedure.

Reiki is not intended to replace any doctor-approved treatment plan.

Bach Flower Therapy

Healing Emotions

Bach Flower Remedies are aimed at the emotional body for healing, by transforming emotions and personality traits into their positive aspects.

The Bach Flower Remedies are made from wild flowers and are safe for the whole family including pets.

The original Bach Flower Remedies is a safe and natural method of healing discovered by Dr. Bach from 1920 – 1930’s in England. They gently restore the balance between mind and body by casting out negative emotions such as fear, worry, hatred and indecision which interfere with the equilibrium of the being as a whole. The Bach Flower Remedies allow peace and happiness to return to the sufferer so that the body is free to heal itself.

The remedies are preserved in grape based brandy and are gluten free.

"And may we ever have joy and gratitude in our hearts that the Great Creator of all things, in His Love for us, has placed the herbs in the fields for His healing."

Homeopathy is a natural form of medicine used by over 200 million people worldwide to treat both acute and chronic conditions. It is based on the principle of ‘like cures like’. In other words, a substance taken in small amounts will cure the same symptoms it causes if taken in large amounts.

The holistic nature of homeopathy means each person is treated as a unique individual and their body, mind, spirit and emotions are all considered in the management and prevention of disease. Taking all these factors into account a homeopath will select the most appropriate medicine based on the individual’s specific symptoms and personal level of health to stimulate their own healing ability.

Homeopathic medicines are safe to use as they rarely cause side-effects. This means when used appropriately under the guidance of a qualified homeopath they can be taken by people of all ages, including babies, children and pregnant or breastfeeding women.

Acupuncture is an essential modality for healing, and provides key advantages over modern methods by virtue of the extensive and powerful knowledge contained within the Chinese medical tradition. Acupuncture is a complete medical protocol focused on correcting imbalances of energy in the body. It is used to prevent, diagnose and treat disease, as well as to improve general health. A knowledge of the Acupuncture Meridians and points gives a practitioner the ability to control, regulate and treat many conditions quickly and effectively.

What Is Acupuncture Used For?

Because the goal of acupuncture is to promote and restore the balance of energy, which flows throughout the body, the benefits of acupuncture can extend to a wide variety of conditions, from emotional disorders (anxiety, depression) to digestive complaints (nausea, vomiting, irritable bowel syndrome). It can be beneficial for pain syndromes due to an injury or associated with chronic degenerative diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis. It can also be helpful in treating neurological problems like migraines or Parkinson’s disease, or as a rehabilitation strategy for individuals who suffered a stroke. Respiratory conditions, including sinusitis and asthma have been relieved with acupuncture, as have many gynecologic disorders and infertility. Acupuncture has also proved beneficial for reducing fatigue and addictions, and for promoting overall well-being.

Studies in the U.S. indicate that acupuncture can help relieve chronic low back pain, dental pain, migraine headaches, fibromyalgia and symptoms of osteoarthritis. It has been shown to assist in the treatment of emotional pain syndromes such as post-traumatic stress disorder, as well as controlling chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting. It has also demonstrated clinical success in achieving pregnancy when used in conjunction with in-vitro fertilization.

Typically, the first acupuncture visit involves a comprehensive health history assessment. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) – which encompasses acupuncture, herbal medicine, Tui-Na massage and other modalities – energy flow and whole-body interaction are the keys to diagnosing all physical disease. For example, the practitioner may ask to examine your tongue, feel your pulse to help determine energy flow, or ask many questions related to bowel habits and diet, even if these seem to have nothing to do with the primary complaint.

After the initial acupuncture consultation and assessment, the needles are placed in very specific locations. Upon insertion, one may feel a momentary sharp or stinging sensation; however, many report they don’t even feel the majority of the insertions. It is common to experience a deep ache for a short time in some of the points. The acupuncture needles may then be gently manipulated and some practitioners may use heat or even electricity with the needles.

The depth to which the acupuncture needles are inserted varies according to the treatment and the practitioner; however, needles should never be positioned deep enough to puncture organs (other than the skin). The needles are usually left in place for five to 20 minutes, usually no longer than 60 minutes, and then removed. Following an acupuncture treatment, practitioners will usually reassess the client and often give suggestions for home care. It is also typical to suggest supplemental Chinese herbs to enhance the achievement of energetic balance. Acute symptoms may require only two to four treatments; whereas for chronic cases, it is common to have as many as 12 or more treatments, usually over a course of eight to 10 weeks. Regular monthly visits may be suggested as preventive measures to decrease stress, improve energy or boost immunity.

Tui-Na Massage

With Nina Avila

For adults and children.
Tui na is one of the most popular TCM treatment modality, pronounced "twee naw", which literally means "pinch and pull," refers to a wide range of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) therapeutic massage and body work, and is frequently used in the treatment of superficial trauma and injury and a wide variety of musculoskeletal problems.

Tui Na can be used to treat specific areas, or it can be used to improve the overall Qi or energy flow throughout the body. Because Tui Na is a complete system, the treatment often helps both these components at the same time.
Tui na is not generally used for pleasure and relaxation, but rather as a treatment to address specific patterns of disharmony. As such, practitioners use it for many of the same reasons and according to the same principles as acupuncture. Like acupuncture, TCM uses tui na to harmonize yin and yang in the body by manipulating the Qi in the acupuncture channels.

Tui na is also often used when acupuncture is inappropriate, such as with children, when it is referred to as "Chinese pediatric massage therapy."

Tui na includes what is popularly known as "acupressure," where practitioners use finger pressure instead of needles to stimulate the acupuncture points.

The technique is effective in reducing stress encouraging relaxation, and deepening sleep. It’s often used for conditions and injuries related to the musculoskeletal and nervous systems.

Here are some conditions Tui-Na massage can treat:

  • Neck stiffness/pain
  • back pain
  • lumbar pain
  • discal hernia
  • musculoskeletal disorders
  • fatigue and insomnia
  • carpal tunnel
  • headaches
  • arthritis
  • stress
  • sciatica
  • depression
  • pain due to lesion
